Secure your account with 2-Step Verification

Google 2 Step Verification | G-Suite for Education

Two step verification is also known as 2 factor authentication. This allows you to have an extra layer of protection or security for your apps that are accessible in the cloud. If you loose your password or some other party has access to it,  then your data is no longer secure. Two factor authentication reduces this risk. This allows you to use your password as well as a special "key" that is sent by google, generated by your handheld device or from a set of 10 codes that you may have downloaded earlier and have kept them in a safe place. Some apps may require App specific authentication. For example if you use Outlook or Mail, these apps will not request you for two factor authentication, but you can ask "Google" to generate a one time [16 character] password that you apply into google and you don't have to think about it again. For trusted devices the 2-Step Verification code will "remember" your computer or device for 30 days. If you access your online services using a public computer you will need your phone to generate the security code or receive a text from Google. Please remember to un-check the remember this device for the next 30 days.
